Prior to joining the Office of Disciplinary Counsel in early 2015, Paul E. Pendley was a senior litigator with the Eaton Group, a large law firm focusing on collections; a public defender in the 18th Judicial District Court for four years; and an associate attorney in a Plaquemine law firm with a focus on personal injury and class action litigation. He also served as the firm’s Network and Information Technology Administrator.  A 2001 graduate of the Loyola College of Law in New Orleans, Paul also attended the University of Vienna School of Law in 1999 after graduating from LSU in 1998 with a major in Political Science and a minor in English.  His diverse legal background and work experience helps him understand the practices of the lawyers he is called upon to investigate and has served him well as a deputy disciplinary counsel for the past six years.  His technology expertise has been a valuable source of help for the disciplinary system and his advocacy in lawyer discipline matters reflects his commitment to the Rules of Professional Conduct.

For decades, the LADB has offered free live, in-person continuing legal education classes to Louisiana lawyers across the state. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these popular live programs were cancelled, but the members of the Disciplinary Board approved the use of coupons for 7 hours of free on-line CLE programming from the LADB’s on-demand catalog for all Louisiana lawyers. Nearly 3,000 hours of free CLE were provided through the coupon program.
