Recent Rules and Decisions

Consent Discipline:

MOTTER, DAVID J. (Metairie), 2021-B-1779 (4/12/22): The Court suspended the respondent for three years, with all but one year and one day deferred, for neglecting legal matters, failing to communicate with clients, failing to promptly refund unearned fees, engaging in the unauthorized practice of law, engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation, and failing to cooperate with ODC’s investigation.

ELWELL, TARA (Lafayette), 2022-B-0390 (4/20/22): The Court suspended the respondent for eighteen months, with all but six months deferred, for charging and failing to account for an excessive legal fee.

CUSIMANO, NICHOLAS, SR. (Chalmette), 2022-B-0270 (4/5/22): The Court suspended the respondent for one year and one day, fully deferred, based upon his arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Hearing Committee Member Spotlight – Vickie Shreves

Through her career as a CPA, Vickie Shreves learned the importance of ethics and trust. This knowledge was easily transferable to serving as the public member on a hearing committee for the LADB.  In fact, the learning process has been a two-way street.  Vickie’s work as a hearing committee member has reinforced the importance of these values in her new career as a realtor.  “Every case [at the LADB] is an education ….  It’s easy to apply what I’ve learned in the process of serving on committees to my career in real estate – ethics is key and ethics brings trust by my clients.”

Vickie was born and raised in New Orleans.  Before her second career in real estate, she had a long career as a CPA, working mainly in tax.  She served in various roles in public and corporate accounting, as well has having her own accounting practice.

Vickie loves walking in Audubon Park and doing needlework and has an appreciation for old houses, furniture, and art.
